Why do we use high-quality C8 instead of generic MCTs?
First, a quick background. MCTs are fat compounds with medium-length chains of carbon. These carbon chains range from 6 to 12 carbons long, which is why there are 4 kinds of MCTs: C6, C8, C10, and C12.
Of these four, the shorter MCTs turns into ketones more efficiently than their longer counterparts, making them a potent energy source. Despite the clear benefit of the shorter-chain options, most generic MCT products are diluted heavily with C10 and C12 compounds.
That’s why we source high-quality C8. C8, also known as caprylic acid, converts into ketones rapidly—within minutes. It’s extremely powerful in suppressing hunger and fueling your brain and body. While C6, C10, and C12 can provide worthwhile health benefits, generic MCT powder dilutes the most beneficial C8 with the less effective longer-chain compounds. (C6 does not occur very abundantly in nature, whereas C8 is able to be sourced can be more easily found.)
Testing: The MCTs in our Fat Tea are rigorously lab tested to ensure there are no heavy metals. While heavy metals can be a concern in generic MCTs, you can rest easy with Fat Tea!
