Eating Keto in ~The Office~

You feel it coming...it’s 1 p.m. and your tummy starts twitching...you think about how long it’s been since breakfast and then…RUMBLE RUMBLE GRUMBLE. Angela glares at you from across the desk. Jim muffles a chuckle. Your tummy responds with a gentle prrr.

We’ve all been there. Work days can be long and grueling, and your appetite is sure to remind you how many hours are left until dinner. If you don’t come prepared with your own keto-friendly foods, you’re left watching everyone else chow down on complimentary Friday bagels and brownie bites while you sulk over another mug of lukewarm coffee.

Luckily for you, we’ve got a list of tips & tricks on how to snack it up within the confines of your workplace. Without further ado, here’s how to diet like Dwight, munch like Meredith, & snack like Stanley...if everyone in The Office were keto 😉

1. Butter up your cup:

Stir a tablespoon of butter or heavy cream into your morning cup of joe to jump-start your day and keep your hangry future-self at bay. If butter or heavy cream aren’t provided by your office, bring your own personal stash to label and keep in the fridge. By getting some extra healthy fats in during the morning, you’ll be all fueled up to tackle your inbox.

      2. Whip up keto chia seed pudding:

Breakfast in-a-jar is super easy to eat at your desk, and an efficient way to pack in a big dose of healthy fats. Plus, it takes almost no time at all to meal-prep a few jars of chocolate chia seed pudding—aka, straight-up chocolate fudge! On Sunday night, simply mix together ¼ cup chia seeds, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, ½ cup unsweetened almond milk, 2 tablespoons sweetener-of-choice, and a dash of cinnamon, salt, and vanilla per serving. Want to switch it up? Try these keto breakfast recipes too!

        3. Keep a jar of nut butter in your drawer:

Nut butters are heavenly jars of creamy, dreamy yumminess—just a tablespoon is super satisfying and keeps you full for at least a couple of loooong phone calls. You can spread it on Fat Snax, celery or just eat it by the spoonful for that mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Go for natural nut butters with no added sugar.

          4. Bulk up on nuts & seeds:

When you have only 5 minutes to stop by your desk between meetings, a handful of nuts or seeds is the way to go. You can transform your desk into a personal gold-mine of these keto-friendly essentials: almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds. To level up your snack game even further, experiment with cocoa-roasted and dry-roasted nuts.

            5. Become a meal-prep master:

Instead of eating packets of tuna day-after-day (no shame, we’ve all been there), meal prep over the weekend using fun, creative keto recipes. Knowing you have a tasty lunch waiting for you will keep you pumped up and help you make it to noon! Plus, your mouth-watering meals are 100% guaranteed to make your co-workers jealous. Here are a few of our favorites to get your culinary wheels turning: chicken fajitas, lasagna, and shrimp with cauliflower rice.

              6. Nibble on cheese crisps:

Like Doritos, they’re flavorful, crunchy, and dusted with deliciousness—but without the carbs! Brands like Moon Cheese and Just the Cheese offer life-changing snacks made of 100% cheese. Better yet, these snacks are fairly scent-free, making them a less-aromatic option to eat at your desk as opposed to other keto snacks like hard-boiled eggs or beef jerky. In other words, you can munch on these crisps anytime, anywhere.

                7. Have desserts on deck:

Whether it’s the holidays, Halloween, or Kelly’s birthday (again), any office party is sure to be centered around a shrine of grocery store desserts and cookie platters. At these mandatory celebrations, a stash of keto-friendly sweet snacks will be your savior. Our favorites are keto snacking chocolates like ChocZero or Lily’s and, of course, Fat Snax Cookies!
